Baxter Credit Union Is 2007 Bergengren Award Winner

Vernon Hills, IL Baxter Credit Union (BCU), Vernon Hills, IL, is the 2007 recipient of Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Mutual Groups Roy F. Bergengren Award for High Achievement. The Bergengren Award recognizes commitment to the self-help ideals and philosophy espoused by credit union pioneer Roy F. Bergengren. CUNA Mutual has bestowed the award on individuals and credit unions since 1990.
It is indeed an honor to be recognized by CUNA Mutual as a credit union that has in some way served as a model for the movement and for fellow credit unions, said Michael G. Valentine, President and CEO of BCU. A $5,000 check, which accompanies the award, was dedicated by Mr. Valentine to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in memory of long-time BCU employee, Torrance Campbell for his commitment and contributions to the organization and its ideals.
Its well recognized that BCU, under Mike Valentines leadership, is a shining example of a credit union committed to serving members and the communities in which it does business and to offering a dynamic and engaging work environment for its employees, said Jeff Post, President and CEO of CUNA Mutual. BCU places significant emphasis on the value of its employees and that has resulted in record growth for the credit union.
BCU, founded in 1981, has $1.2 billion in assets and serves 126,000 members. It is one of the nations Top 100 credit unions in asset size and the fourth largest in Illinois. It has nearly 30 locations in 10 states and Puerto Rico. The entire BCU team prides itself on world-class service, innovative technology, and providing long-lasting value to its members.
BCUs employees are actively involved in their communities and credit union organizations. They donate significant employee time and dollars to local organizations in need.
